Cannabis seedlings are young plants that can be planted in soil or other growing media immediately after germination. They offer a quick and easy way to start growing cannabis without having to go through the often lengthy germination process.
Choosing the right genetics is crucial to the success of your grow. Different strains offer different characteristics such as taste, aroma, effects and yield. Make sure you research the available strains thoroughly to choose the one that best suits your needs.
Careful preparation is essential for successful cultivation. Make sure you have the necessary equipment, such as pots, soil, lighting and ventilation systems. A clean and well-organized environment promotes the healthy growth of your seedlings.
Germination is the process by which the seed becomes a young plant. Place the seeds in damp paper and keep them in a warm place. After a few days, the seeds should germinate and be ready to be planted in soil.
Seedlings require specific conditions to thrive optimally. Keep the temperature between 20-25°C and the humidity at around 65-70%. Make sure the seedlings receive enough light, but without direct sunlight to avoid burns.
Regular care is essential during growth. Water the plants when the top layer of soil is dry and make sure to avoid waterlogging. Fertilize with a balanced mix of nutrients to support healthy growth.
The flowering phase begins when the plants are placed under a 12-hour light cycle. This is the phase in which the flowers that will later be harvested develop. Be careful not to stress the plants during the flowering period to ensure optimal harvest.
Seedlings can be exposed to various problems, such as mold, pests or nutrient deficiencies. Monitor your plants regularly and respond quickly to signs of problems. Early detection and treatment are crucial to the success of your crop.

LED grow lights are ideal for cannabis seedlings because they emit little heat and offer a broad spectrum of light. A blue light spectrum (around 400-500 nm) promotes healthy leaf growth and prevents the plants from becoming leggy. A lighting period of 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness has proven to be effective.
Fertilizer should be avoided as much as possible during the seedling phase, as the young plants can be very sensitive to nutrients. The substrate should be low in nutrients. Only from the third or fourth week, when the plants enter the growth phase, can a very low dose of fertilizer be started.
The best substrates have a light and well-ventilated structure, such as:
Avoid heavily pre-fertilized soil, as it may overwhelm young plants.
Seedlings should be repotted once they have developed 3-4 pairs of leaves or the root system fills the pot. Ideally, this is done after 2-3 weeks. Be careful not to damage the delicate roots. A pot with sufficient drainage holes is important to avoid waterlogging.
